Meet the Phantoms
 |
Phantoms lead vocalist Deb possesses qualities as a vocalist and performer that captivate audiences. Her voice has been compared to Bonnie Raitt and Susan Tedeschi, but she yields a unique sound that embraces blues and soul alike. After singing for FlatRock for 24 years, she fronts the Phantoms with ease, belting out soulful blues and crooning beautiful ballads with equal talent. |

Doug Ferrance has played harmonica since the late 1960's. He was a strong presence and co-founder of the Tone Cats for the last decade. He has performed throughout the southern New England area during his musical career. You can hear the playing styles of Paul Butterfield, Little Walter, Charlie Musselwhite, and Big Walter, but Doug has a style all his own. He has shared the stage with several blues greats such as Kim Wilson, Jimmy Vaughan, James Montgomery, Roomful of Blues, the Marshall Tucker Band and Sugar Ray Norcia. After playing for three years with Steve in a local swing blues band, they left and formed The Phantoms. |

Guitarist "Delmonico Don", a Berklee College of Music graduate, brings many musical styles to the stage and studio. Heavily steeped in Texas- and Chicago-style blues, he rips with the polish of a rocker. Don is an alumnus of the Tone Cats, where he shared the stage with Harmonica Doug for years.

Guitarist Stephen Carrell was raised in Tennessee, cutting his teeth on bluegrass, folk, country and blues music at an early age. After he saw B.B. King as a child, he was instantly hooked on the blues. He picked up a guitar at 14 and never looked back. He cites Ronnie Earl, Albert Collins, the Three Kings (B.B., Albert, and Freddie), and the Vaughan brothers as some of his major blues influences. He played in Connecticut-based bands in the 80's. He got back into performing by wailing with a local swing blues band for a year or so. He then split with Doug to form the Phantoms. |

Nate Ferrance, bassist for the Phantoms, has been listening to blues-rock music all his life, thanks to his father, Phantoms harmonica player Doug Ferrance. In addition to playing bass guitar for The Phantoms, Nate plays lead guitar and writes a majority of the music with his own rock band, Hillcrest. He also knows how to play piano and saxophone, too! He is now in his fifth year of college at CCSU where he is studying to become an elementary school teacher and is in his fourth year of DJ'ing with the campus radio station, WFCS. Nate brings lots of young energy and years of hands-on band experience to the Phantoms. His style is new, yet familiar. |

After The Phantoms drummer Kevin Dougherty retired and moved to sunny Florida, Wally Cwynar was invited to fill his shoes. He has sat in with the band on a few occasions, and has proved himself to be an excellent drummer. His sense of timing is impeccable, and his style adds a new dimension to the band's sound.
